The race started in Alicante, Spain on October 29, 2011 and will be finishing on July 7, 2012 in Galway, Ireland. It is one of the most challenging races in the world. ‘The course sets an intriguing mixture of sailing conditions and challenges for navigators. These include fast, heavy weather running in the Southern Ocean, nail biting light airs and thunderstorms in the Doldrums, plus tricky tidal conditions along the European coastline’
Galway's Festival will be a treat! First of all, there will be loads of amazing and beautiful sail boats. Then, the festival - music, food, fashion, comedy, you name it! Galway's Havana Cultura (formerly known as Little Havana Festival) is a free and fun-filled festival taking place in the city's Latin Quarter.
From Friday 01st – Sunday 03rd June (Bank Holiday Weekend) Galway’s Latin Quarter will be alive with Latin music, dance, street entertainment, art and cultural events. Over 60 free events will be taking place over the weekend courtesy of Havana Club, the Authentic Cuban Rum.
Returning to the HAVANA CULTURA stage this year are the legendary Cuban All Stars, the eclectic Sabor Cubano and the Cuban Jazz Project. International performers La Tinto Bros, local heroes the Disconauts and Galway's very own 8 piece salsa band Cuba Libre will also feature. Groovalizacion DJ’s will bring their vibes, grooves and cultural fusions to the Latin Quarter, with a host of other bands and DJs from around the world, ensuring the pulse of Havana is felt throughout the city.
Additional activities taking place throughout the weekend include pop-up Havana Club Mojito Masterclasses, drumming classes by Big Beat, an experienced Latin American drumming band and a Cuban photo exhibition, exhibiting late 1950’s and early 1960’s photography. Backata Republic will also host energetic Salsa classes over the course of the weekend.

am from Dublin and am 100% Irish except when the sun shines and I claim to be
part Brazilian (you should see me with a football :)
I
have been 27 for 5 years now and plan to be for the foreseeable future.
I
have travelled all over the world and can even remember a small portion of it.
I
have lived in England, Scotland, Spain, Luxembourg, Cuba and Australia, working
in bars, bricklaying, plumbing, orange picking, on pub crawls, football
commentating, small parts in movies (two), tour guiding and now finally I have
settled on hostel management...
I'm split on the favourite places between stunning country that is Croatia and the
electricity of the life in Cuba.
The
best hostel I have stayed in is the Glebe Village hostel in Sydney, such a nice
place.
Interesting
fact, I once told Cheryl Crow (pretty famous) that I hope she makes it as a
singer someday, having no idea who she was when meeting her in the Quay's bar
right across from the hostel :(

will need to snoop around to find those movies, right???)

Rooms and bathrooms were beautiful and clean (both the 12-bed and 6 -bed). Also, kitchen and common room were pretty! Safe, clean, awesome. My favourite hostel that I've stayed at so far!''
